
Kuala Lumpur, July 26, 2024 – The Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor (KLSCCCI) proudly concluded the KLSCCCI Business Productivity Conference and Networking event today at Seng Peng Hall, Wisma Chinese Chamber, Kuala Lumpur. The conference brought together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals. This conference explores strategies for enhancing business productivity and fostering professional growth.
The event featured insightful presentations on various key topics. They include upskilling, reskilling, communication, leadership, technology, 21st-century skills, and language literacy. Esteemed speakers included Ong Kian Yew, CEO of PIKOM; Rachel Poon, Program Lead of Huawei, Go Global Accelerator Program; Mak Kum Shi, Principal of Mak Academy; and Lim Huei Ying, Club Growth Director, District 51, Toastmasters International.
Raising business productivity
In his keynote speech, Ong Kian Yew highlighted the transformative potential of technology in driving business productivity. He also emphasized the importance of the Malaysia Digital Blueprint and various supporting plans. Plans include the National E-Commerce Masterplan, AI Roadmap, and Industry4WRD National Policy. Ong discussed the critical role of increasing investment in R&D and optimizing the labor market. He also added on updating policies, and leveraging advanced technologies to accelerate productivity growth.
Rachel Poon’s presentation on raising productivity through technology provided practical insights and strategies for leveraging the cloud partner ecosystem. She explained how businesses can access specialized expertise and innovative technologies through cloud service providers, technology vendors, and value-added resellers. Key takeaways included the benefits of advanced tools and services for operational efficiency and scalability, maintaining a competitive edge, and optimizing performance while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Mak Kum Shi’s sessions on skills development and language literacy underscored the importance of continuous learning and skill enhancement. He also covered the definitions and significance of upskilling and reskilling, current trends in skills demand, and key skills to focus on for the future. Mak also highlighted the critical role of 21st-century skills, including learning and innovation skills, information, media, and technology skills, and life and career skills. He emphasized the benefits of English proficiency in business and provided strategies for improving English literacy.
Lim Huei Ying’s discussion on communication and leadership emphasized the critical role of effective communication in business success. She shared insights on essential skills in effective communication and critical traits of leadership in today’s world. She also added on how great leaders communicate effectively to inspire, engage, and succeed.
Supporting educational causes
One of the highlights of the event was the charity award ceremony. Proceeds from the conference were donated to the KLSCCCI Scholarship Fund and SJKC Sentul Pasar Peng Ming. These contributions will support the educational needs of deserving students, promoting inclusive and equitable education.
